The semiconductor industry lives by a simple creed: smaller, faster and cheaper. The benefit of being tiny is pretty simple: finer lines mean more transistors can be packed onto the same chip. The more transistors on a chip, the faster it can do its work. This constant battle requires front-end equipment manufacturers to control their processes to ever tightening degrees. Precise measurement of gases and liquids in the fabrication process plays a major role in allowing the industry to continue the attainment of Moore’s Law.
