Chemical Measurement Sub-Sea
The proven and established VFF Series Rotary Piston Meters have been very successfully adapted for sub-sea chemical injection measurement. Their inherent reliability meets the low maintenance requirements for a sub-sea installation. This matches the requirements of top sides applications.
The flow measurement system remains unchanged and a signal processing PCB has been introduced, mounted in a pressure-proof housing which has a sub-sea mateable connector. Pulses from the reed-switch sensor are converted to a 4-20mA linear flowrate signal provided on a 2-wire output circuit. The low power consumption of the electronics allows the system to be externally loop-powered. Topsides an Exi or Exd solution is utilised.

Uniquely, for security , two long life sensors are installed. The electronics automatically searches for a working one to use after a flow stoppage, loop disconnection or sensor problem.
The meter output is monitored directly by an ROV or via submarine cabling to a remote location. Using this vital information of actual flowrate the chemical injection flow control valves can be set correctly. In a permanent installation continuous on-line chemical injection monitoring is achieved.
Submersible to depths of 1000m+

Highly reliable and simple construction

Meters chemical injections 0.5 litre/day to 1200 litre/hour according to service fluid

Accuracy typically ± 1% of actual

Linear flowrate output 4-20mA, 2-wire Loop-powered at 10-28 VDC

Service fluid pressures to 1380 bar + (typically 690 or 1035 bar)

Connectable sub-sea

Leakage Detection & Well Valve Position Monitoring
The sub-sea version of the VFF Series meter can be used for line and valve actuator leakage measurement or valve position monitoring via its accurate bi-directional flowmetering capability.
