Helical Screw Flowmeters

These meters are of a positive displacement design which does not induce pulsation into the flowing stream. The smallest meter will operate with viscous fluids from 0.015 litres per minute. When employed on low viscosity fluids the largest meter can operate to 7,500 litres per minute. They give a high resolution pulse output and are extremely accurate (±0.1% reading). These meters can be supplied with the Litre Meter pick-up and transmitter system including the Intrinsically Safe type. They can be specified for very high service pressures.
Litre Meter is an established flowmeter manufacturer, producing a range of high quality Pelton Wheel Flowmeters. These are ideal for low viscosity fluids, but like all turbine type meters they suffer from a reduction in flowrange and accuracy when used with viscous fluids.
The Helical Screw Flowmeter provides the perfect solution to the measurement of the higher viscosity liquids (at larger flows; the VFF rovides a solution at lower flows) which normally offer some lubrication characteristics, e.g. oils, fuel-oils, many chemicals, acids and food processing fluids. It successfully meters very high viscosity fluids, such as printing ink.
The extremely accurate positive placement metering principle of this twin-screw meter design has been well proven. The basic meter, produced by Kral of Austria, is derived from a range of screw pumps that have been widely used for over 30 years. This engineering experience and manufacturing capacity ensures both cost-effective and high quality production. The unit is supplied with the Litre Meter standard or Intrinsically-safe pick-up and pulse output transmitter system.
Many materials of construction are available, from low-cost aluminium types to the 316L stainless steel units. These serve almost all metering or flow control applications of viscous fluids. The Helical Screw Flowmeter further expands the measurement capability of Litre Meter Limited which is noted for its professional engineering service, consistent uality of products and excellent delivery performance.
The meter shown is equipped with the Litre Meter Intrinsically-safe pick-up and transmitter electronics. It is BASEEFA Certified EEx ia IIC T5 to CENELEC Standards. It gives the standard Litre Meter 3mA pulse output that may be run over long distances with good noise immunity. This excellent grade of certification allows for installation in Zone '0' areas having a continuous hazard with the more ignitable Group II gases.
The high T5 temperature rating allows use when the hazard is volatile enough to need a limitation of surface temperature of only 100șC
